” This year saw the steep rise of reggae fusion or pop-based dancehall-style tracks from artists such as Drake, Tory Lanez, Ariana Grande, and Rihanna. As a person of Caribbean descent, this was music to my ears. Other “tropical” sounds continued to make waves in the 105 BPM area with the entry of a lot of old school remakes. EDM and dance-pop made a strong imprint on the charts, whether slow or fast. Here are my favorite 25 songs of the year.“
